A little about Amy Schnell, M.Ed., LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I graduated from University of Arkansas- Little Rock in 2011 with a master’s degree in Counseling Education. I started out my counseling career as an onsite therapist for a residential children’s home for at-risk youth. I also have experience in community mental health where I worked with individuals in the school and agency setting as well as in their homes. The transition to offer virtual mental health came as a result of Covid, but there are many benefits for clients when they can receive therapy from the comfort of their own home. This is especially true for those who are working through a traumatic past or have anxiety and are not sure how to best address the stress and feelings of being overwhelmed in their everyday life.

Prior to starting my counseling career, I was a public school teacher where my love of helping others improve their life through education grew to the point that I decided to return to school to be able to help the whole person. I am extremely passionate when it comes to helping individuals learn how important it is for them to take care of themselves not only educationally but also emotionally.

As a result of my experience, Trauma Informed - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy are my specialty. I also will use EMDR when appropriate. However, I will use the therapy techniques that best fit my client’s life challenge(s).

  • I am so thankful to have been working with Amy. One of the best words I can use to describe her is sweetheart because she is so kind and understanding and I am so thankful to have been connected to her. She listens with her full attention and she is so easy to relate to. Plus, I'm very surprised by all the little details she remembers and she makes great connections and gives great tools and advice. She's so patient and never rushes me and is always there to support while giving constructive criticism. I highly recommend her!!

  • Amy is great! She really listens to me and offers me insight and different ways of looking at and approaching my problems/concerns. She is kind, understanding, very knowledgeable and helpful. She has even contacted me between sessions to ask how things are going. Lovely lady!

  • Amy is awesome, she listens very well and offers great advice. She offers alternative ways of looking and dealing with situations and problems. She gives you helpful homework if you want it. She always has a happy countenance about her and is a pleasant and caring person. I look forward to my sessions with Amy!

  • Amy has been great: a solid presence in my life during some really challenging times. She doesn’t tell me what I should do.. instead she (gently) challenges me to really think through my choices and question my own thought process.
